Instructions for Presenters at the NWA Annual Meeting
(including the NWA-GOES Users' Conference (GUC) Joint Session, 20 Oct. For other GUC sessions see below.)

THE DEADLINE FOR UPLOADING YOUR ORAL PRESENTATION AV Aids TO THE FTP SITE has been extended to SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8th.

FAILURE TO UPLOAD YOUR PRESENTATION BY THE DEADLINE MAY RESULT IN LOSING YOUR PRESENTATION SPOT TO SOMEONE ELSE!

Poster Presentations are welcomed to be uploaded prior to Friday, October 14th.

You must upload your file to the NWA anonymous ftp site. Providing the presentation for the meeting ahead of time will allow the presentation to be tested on the Mac computer that will be used during your session.

Please check the NWA web site for the most recent updates on the Annual Meeting and the program.

File Naming Instructions
Please include the first presenters name and session in the name of the file. Also, please replace any blanks in the file name with an underscore "_" or remove the blank. For example, a good file name for a presentation might be "brody_decisionsupport2_nasa_smg.ppt"

If you must update your presentation after it has been uploaded, please send Steve Listemaa (webmaster@nwas.org) and the Annual Meeting Chair (annualmeeting@nwas.org) an email indicating that you need to update your presentation. We'll need to remove your old file first before you can update the presentation.

FTP Instructions
Presenters can send their presentations to the NWA using anonymous ftp. Some instructions for using anonymous ftp are below, but this may vary depending on the software and operating system you use. Be sure to include your name in any presentation files that you upload. Please place your files in the directory for your session (see the preliminary agenda).

1. Point Internet Explorer to ftp.nwas.org/incoming/meeting2011
2. If you are using IE 7 or greater: Under the "Page" menu, select "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer". This will open up a new Windows Explorer window, which is what you will need to use.
3. Double click on your session folder
4. Drag and drop your presentation from your desktop into the window (either Internet Explorer, or Windows Explorer) you have open.
5. After file is copied, verify file is listed in your newly created folder. You are done!

1. Open ftp.nwas.org
2. Login as anonymous and enter your email address for the password
3. Change directory to the presentations folder (type "cd incoming/meeting2011" from the command line and press enter)
4. Change directory to your session ("cd student"). Type "ls" and hit enter to see the directory names, if needed.
5. Make sure the transfer is in binary. (type "bin" and enter)
6. Copy your presentation to the directory ("put smith_student_mentorpresentation.ppt")
7. Quit the ftp session (type "quit"). You are done!

There are also a number of ftp clients that provide a graphical user interface that you can use, such as Filezilla (Windows), and Cyberduck (Windows and MacOS). A search on "ftp client free" will return some of these options.
