| Figure #7a-c...A series of upper air soundings from Del Rio taken at six hourly intervals (7a: 0600, 7b: 1200, and 7c: 1800 UTC) as Tropical Storm Claudette passed on 16 July 2003. The structure of the vertical wind field depicted on the 1200 UTC sounding (figure 7b) is similar to those observed using Global Positioning System derived wind measurements within tropical cyclones as analyzed by Powell et al. (2003). |
