2002 GOALS:
- Develop Vision Statement
- Revise Strategic Plan
- Obtain NWA Council approval
2002 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Developed a Vision Statement and a revised Strategic Plan.
- Recommended a separate, detailed Implementation Plan to follow the Strategic Plan.
- Presented Vision and Strategic Plan to NWA Council for inputs in April, 2002. Incorporated Council inputs.
- Posted draft Vision and Strategic Plan on NWA website for review in July, 2002.
- Presented revised Vision and Strategic Plan to NWA Council for approval in July, 2002.
NWA VISION
A premier professional organization that is indispensable to the operational meteorology community.
NWA STRATEGIC PLAN
- Increase size and diversity of membership by improving recruitment and retention.
- Forge a leadership role in technical training for professional forecasters and the communities they serve.
- Become a leader in development of policy statements relating to operational meteorology.
- Maintain organizational focus on promoting new forecasting techniques and technology.
- Continue to be a leader in facilitating public/private meteorology interactions.
- Make Annual Meetings the premier forum for operational meteorology.
- Foster increased cooperation between the operational community and the academic/research communities.
- Improve the organizational infrastructure.
- Enhance the quality and readership of NWA publications.
- Ensure financial stability and planning.
- Develop leadership and succession planning.
2003 GOALS
- Obtain Council approval / concurrence on Vision and Strategic Plan (ideally at 2002 Council Meeting)
- Post approved Vision and Strategic Plan on NWA website and in NWA Newsletter.
- Develop Implementation Plan.
