Jordan Joel Gerth Wins 2007 NWA Meteorological Satellite Applications Award
The Meteorological Satellite Applications Award was established by the National Weather Association
(NWA) to stimulate interest and foster the study and use of satellite remote sensing data in weather analysis and
forecasting.
Undergraduate students were invited to write an original paper on meteorological satellite applications. Themes
of the papers may include original research, case studies, or a survey of applications. The recipient
of the award receives a stipend of $500 and is invited to present their paper at the NWA Annual Meeting.
This award is sponsored by Frances Holt, former Chair of the NWA Remote Sensing Committee.
The 2007 winner of this award is Mr.Jordan Joel Gerth, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mr. Gerth's
paper is entitled "Transitioning Satellite Imagery from Research to Operations." He will present his paper on October 17, 2007 at the NWA Annual Meeting in Reno, Nevada.
