Biography of Mr. Tim Oram, our webmaster


As a Techniques Development Unit Meteorologist at SMG, I provide operational support to the Space Shuttle and International Space Station crew recovery space vehicle (currently a Russion Soyuz capsule) as well as working unique space support projects such as the Mir re-entry. I also am responsible for developing and implementing new forecasting tools. These tools are either new ways to use existing data or new forecasting systems. Currently, I am working on the implementation of a mesoscale data assimilation system over Kennedy Space Center, the installation and configuration of the workstation Eta numerical model to provide a local modeling capability for Shuttle landing sites, and the development of Space Shuttle unique computer applications on the Automated Weather Interactive Processing (AWIPS) system and the SMG Meteorological Interactive Data Display System (MIDDS).

Spent 9 years in US Air Force weather support before joining SMG. While in the Air Force, held a variety of positions including Weather Flight Commander, Staff Meteorologist, and Staff Weather Officer. Previous assignment locations included Patrick Air Force Base (Florida), Nellis Air Force Base (Nevada), and Soto Cano Air Base, Republic of Honduras.
