Jack May has been the Acting Director of the Aviation Weather Center since January, but is no stranger to aviation.  He earned his private pilot weather license in 1973 while earning a degree in Aeronautical Meteorology at Parks College of Aeronautical Technology.  During his 27 year National Weather Service career, he has prepared aviation terminal forecasts and briefed pilots in New York, Vermont, North Carolina, Maine, New Hampshire, Ohio, and Kansas.  He also was in charge of NWS and FAA pilot weather briefing evaluations while Deputy Meteorologist in Charge at the Cleveland NWS office.  Previous to his assignment as acting AWC Director, Jack was for ten years the Deputy Regional Director at the National Weather Service Central Region Headquarters in Kansas City.  Jack's Uncle Ed May is a retired Captain with United Airlines, and his son David pilots KC-135s on active duty with the United States Air Force.
