Activities
The Aviation Meteorology Committee of the National Weather Association strives to
address current issues of importance to the aviation weather community.
A primary goal of this committee is to improve weather education for
pilots and other operational personnel who have a strong need for
weather information. Emphasis is placed on serving the community
through project leadership roles, advising the general NWA membership
and leadership on applicable issues, and serving as a catalyst
supporting efforts to improve/advance all aspects of aviation weather
research and education. The committee continuously seeks support from
the entire aviation weather community to include interested personnel
(forecasters, observers, pilots, briefers, researchers, etc.) from the NWS,FAA,AOPA, DoD, private airlines, private
aviation weather related companies, and researchers.
The NWA presents an annual Aviation
Weather Award to recognize the outstanding contributions of individuals
or groups that have significantly contributed to improving aviation
weather support. The Aviation Weather Committee encourages you to
submit nominations for this award to the Awards Committee.
