Charter

The Aviation Meteorology Committee of the National Weather Association strives to address current issues of importance to the aviation weather community. A primary goal of this committee is to improve weather education for pilots and other operational personnel who have a strong need for weather information. Emphasis is placed on serving the community through project leadership roles, advising the general NWA membership and leadership on applicable issues, and serving as a catalyst supporting efforts to improve/advance all aspects of aviation weather research and education. The committee continuously seeks support from the entire aviation weather community to include interested personnel (forecasters, observers, pilots, briefers, researchers, etc.) from the NWS, FAA, AOPA, DoD, private airlines, private aviation weather related companies, and researchers.

Internet Weather Courses Sponsored by the Aviation Meteorology Committee

Weather Theory for Pilots

The NWA and the Aviation Meteorology Committee are proud to release the first two modules of the Weather Theory for Pilots course. Weather Theory for Pilots is an interactive program designed to help General Aviation pilots better understand and apply weather theory and technologies to their flying activities. Although, specifically intended for new or low-time pilots, modules provide those without formal recurrent programs with refresher training in fundamental weather principles and their application to flight operations.

Thunderstorms and Winter Weather

Although the formal Internet courses have been completed, you can still click on the following links to informally take the courses. All materials are on-line.
